Bulk Carrier Alexis runs aground in Istanbul

Following the vessel's grounding due to engine trouble, a swift response was initiated by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, a branch of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Multiple rescue operations were mobilized, including Tugboats Kurtarma-6, Kurtarma-8, Kurtarma-18, along with KEGM-4 and KEGM-6 rapid intervention boats, alongside divers dispatched to the scene.

Upon underwater inspection by local fishermen, the emergency response vessel, Nene Hatun, promptly arrived at the site to assist.

As a result of the ship's grounding, maritime traffic in the Istanbul Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended in both directions.
