Erasmus Shipinvest Group has announced the successful launch of its "new" Ocean Echo, marking the delivery of its first-ever tween/MPP newbuilding. The vessel was named on January 17, 2025, at Higaki Zosen, one of the top-tier shipyards in Imabari, Japan. This announcement comes exactly two years after the company sold its previous Ocean Echo, a 37k Handysize bulk carrier.

In addition to the launch of the new vessel, Erasmus Shipinvest revealed plans to grow Erasmus Lines as a dedicated liner division. The company aims to strengthen its position in the fast-evolving global shipping market, especially amid geopolitical shifts and de-globalization trends. Erasmus Lines will focus on owning, managing, and operating a substantial fleet of feeder containerships, as well as general cargo and multipurpose vessels.

The announcement was made via social media, where the company thanked both internal teams and external partners for their efforts in supporting the growth of its liner business.
