The consortium recently presented “first concrete results,” including an interactive map showcasing key hydrogen initiatives at ports such as Brest, Leixões, Vigo, and Seville. This map highlights promising hydrogen applications, identifies bottlenecks, and outlines opportunities in these ports, offering a comprehensive overview of their role in the hydrogen economy.

The project began by identifying the most viable green hydrogen technologies and applications through statistical literature analysis, focusing on cost, energy efficiency, and decarbonization impacts. Subsequent steps involved assessing technical, economic, social, and regulatory barriers to implementing hydrogen infrastructures in the targeted ports.

The consortium includes the Port Authorities of Vigo, Seville, Brest Brittany Port Company, and the Administration of the Ports of Douro, Leixões, and Viana do Castelo, alongside the technology center France Energies Marines, the University of Galway, the University of Porto, and companies such as Hive Hydrogen, Automotive Synergy Evolution, and Energy Observer Developments.
