The legal struggle to operate a terminal at Durban, South Africa’s top container port, will extend into next year. International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) lost an appeal at the Durban High Court to dismiss a case brought by rival APM Terminals.

The court decision temporarily blocked ICTSI’s 25-year deal with state-run Transnet to take over the terminal’s operation.

APM Terminals challenged the deal after losing the bid, citing that ICTSI did not meet a stipulated solvency requirement. Another court hearing is now set for March 2025, with the main case scheduled to be heard next year.
