 The Indian Ports Association (IPA) reported that 10 of the country's major ports experienced a year-over-year decline in cargo traffic. However, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Deendayal Port saw positive growth.

India's 12 major ports, which fall under the jurisdiction of the central government, include Deendayal Port (formerly Kandla), Mumbai Port, JNPA, Mormugao Port, New Mangalore Port, Cochin Port, Chennai Port, Kamarajar Port (formerly Ennore), VO Chidambarnar Port, Visakhapatnam Port, Paradip Port, and Kolkata Port, which includes Haldia. According to the IPA, JNPA, the country's leading container port, saw a 12.34% increase in cargo traffic in November, while Deendayal Port recorded a 10.10% year-over-year rise.

Despite these positive developments, other ports faced significant declines. New Mangalore Port reported a 19% decrease in cargo traffic, and Mormugao Port saw a dramatic 29.64% drop compared to the same period last year. Cargo traffic at other major ports, including Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Mumbai, also decreased in November compared to the previous year, as per IPA data.
