Rijeka Gateway Receives Its First Four STS Cranes

The new container terminal at the Croatian port, operated by a joint venture between Maersk's APM Terminals and ENNA Group, has achieved a significant milestone with the arrival of its first four ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.

As Rijeka Gateway prepares for its official opening in 2025, the first four ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, manufactured by ZPMC, have been delivered to the new container terminal in Croatia.

In recognition of the region's heritage, the cranes have been named after four notable women, including the first Croatian Olympic medalist. This initiative stemmed from a recent campaign that involved local community input through a survey. The quay where the cranes are positioned will also be designated as the Square of Powerful Women of Rijeka.

Peter Corfitsen, CEO of Rijeka Gateway, expressed enthusiasm about the cranes’ arrival, stating, "It is amazing to see the cranes finally here in Rijeka. After months of preparation, the rubber finally hits the road with gradual arrival of our new equipment. We are really starting to resemble the new terminal and gateway to the region, and it’s super exciting.”
