Announced at the 2024 North Bund International Shipping Forum, the initiative involves the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, Hamburg Port Authority, Cosco Shipping Lines, and Shanghai International Port Group. This corridor aims to set a new benchmark for sustainable practices in global shipping.

The partnership will engage stakeholders—including shipping companies, equipment suppliers, and energy providers—to facilitate carbon neutrality for ships docking at both ports. Key efforts include promoting shore power usage and developing the necessary infrastructure, regulations, and policies for green fuel supply and usage. The initiative also seeks to attract additional partners to maximize the benefits of green shipping corridors.
