Singapore’s MPA Reports Bunker Fuel Spill Off Changi

A five-tonne bunker fuel spill occurred during a transfer to the Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier Ines Corrado off Changi, with cleanup efforts already completed, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has confirmed that approximately five tonnes of bunker fuel spilled during a transfer to the Ines Corrado, a Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier, off Changi.

The spill, which occurred during a bunkering operation, was quickly managed by patrol craft spraying dispersants. MPA reports that there is no longer any visible oil slick. Malaysian authorities have been alerted to monitor for potential oil sightings along their waters.

The 2012-built kamsarmax vessel is owned by Monaco-based Gestion Maritime, though the bunker supplier involved has not yet been disclosed.
