Utkilen Launches LNG Dual-Fuel Tanker Listraum in Türkiye

Utkilen’s new LNG-powered tanker, Listraum, launched in Turkey, marks a step forward in green shipping and decarbonization goals.

Norwegian tanker operator Utkilen has launched its new LNG dual-fuel vessel, Listraum, from the İçdaş shipyard in Turkey. The company announced the launch on social media, noting Listraum as the first of four 6,700 dwt chemical tankers built to reduce environmental impact.

Equipped with LNG tanks and multifuel engines, Listraum is designed to significantly cut emissions, including sulfur, nitrogen oxide, and carbon dioxide. This aligns with Utkilen’s commitment to green shipping, as LNG is considered a cleaner alternative for maritime transport.

The four new tankers, set to operate in the Baltics and North Sea from 2024, include advanced features such as battery and shore power connections. Norway’s Høglund Marine Solutions is providing an integrated automation and power management system, including hybrid-electric, digital, and fuel gas supply systems, to enhance the vessels' operational efficiency and sustainability.
