Cyprus-based shipowner Castor Maritime is selling its second containership, the 2005-built 2,700 teu Gabriela A, for $19.3 million, netting a $0.8 million gain. The Nasdaq-listed company acquired the German-built boxship in late 2022 for $25.38 million. The vessel is expected to be delivered to the new owner in the first half of 2025.

This sale follows a recent $16.5 million deal with an unaffiliated third party for sister vessel Ariana A, which will result in a loss of about $3.3 million. Castor currently owns 13 vessels, including 10 bulk carriers and three containerships.

Earlier this month, the company also acquired a majority stake in MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Capital, a tonnage provider with a fleet of 63 vessels.
