The child, who was on a cruise with his family, fell from the cabin balcony on Deck 14 to Deck 8, landing in the ship’s Central Park area, which features bars, restaurants, and pubs. Despite the efforts of the crew to resuscitate him, the child was pronounced dead before the ship docked in Galveston, Texas, on September 8.

During Birthday Party

The family was reportedly on the cruise to celebrate a birthday. Passengers waiting to board the ship for its next cruise were informed of a delay due to an investigation launched by the authorities. Royal Caribbean confirmed the incident but did not provide additional details.

This incident is not the first to occur on this vessel. In 2019, a 16-year-old passenger fell to his death while attempting to climb from an eighth-floor balcony to reach his stateroom.

In 2018, a British entertainer went missing from the same ship while it was sailing near Puerto Rico. In 2016, a lifeboat accident during a safety exercise in the French port of Marseilles resulted in one death and four injuries.

Harmony of the Seas, owned by Royal Caribbean International, is one of the world's largest cruise ships, capable of accommodating over 8,000 passengers and crew.

The ship features 16 decks, 2,747 staterooms, 20 restaurants, 23 swimming pools, and a park with over 10,000 plants and 50 trees.
