Passengers aboard Stena Superfast VII have been stranded for over 12 hours off the Antrim coast after departing Cairnryan, Scotland, early this morning amid severe weather caused by Storm Darragh.
The ferry, which left Dumfries and Galloway at 1 a.m., was en route to Belfast but had to take shelter as adverse conditions made docking unsafe. Stena Line confirmed that another ship is also sheltering in the Kilbrannan Sound between Arran and the Kintyre peninsula.
All Cairnryan-Belfast crossings have been canceled for the rest of the day.
It has been reported that the ship will dock in Belfast once conditions improve and it is deemed safe.
