Diana Shipping Signs Time Charter with Bunge for Ultramax Vessel

New York-listed Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping has signed a time charter agreement with Swiss agribusiness firm Bunge for one of its ultramax vessels, the 2016-built DSI Aquarius (60,309 dwt).

Under the contract, the vessel will be employed at a gross daily rate of $13,300, minus a 5% commission to third parties, for a duration of 10 to 12 months, beginning on December 6. The minimum charter period is expected to generate approximately $3.99 million in gross revenue.

Diana Shipping’s fleet includes 38 dry bulk vessels, consisting of four Newcastlemaxes, eight Capesizes, five post-Panamaxes, six Kamsarmaxes, six Panamaxes, and nine Ultramaxes. The company also plans to take delivery of two methanol dual-fuel newbuilding Kamsarmax vessels by 2027 and 2028. With the current fleet, excluding the two vessels not yet delivered, the total carrying capacity stands at approximately 4.2 million dwt, with a weighted average age of 11.17 years.
