Drydocks World, a subsidiary of DP World, has unveiled its expanded South Yard in Dubai, spanning 75,000 sq m. This expansion enhances the company’s ability to execute global marine and offshore wind energy projects, boosting fabrication capacity by 40% and yard capacity by 25%.
The new facility features the largest load-out jetty in the Middle East and Africa, capable of supporting structures weighing up to 37,000 tonnes. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including robotic profile-cutting machines, automated CNC systems, and a heavy-duty rolling machine.
Designed to accommodate up to 3,000 workers daily, the South Yard is geared for high-complexity projects, including converting FPSOs, constructing offshore platform topsides, and building HVAC and HVDC converter platforms for the offshore wind energy sector.
A 5,000-tonne sheerleg floating crane, expected to be operational by 2026, will further enhance the yard’s capacity to manage large-scale projects.
In line with Drydocks World’s sustainability goals, the South Yard operates entirely on clean energy from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, reducing its carbon footprint and meeting international environmental standards.
