Iran Unveils First Signals Intelligence Ship

Iran's navy receives its first signals intelligence ship, the Zagros, boosting electronic warfare capabilities amid escalating regional tensions.

Iran’s navy has officially received its first signals intelligence ship, the Zagros, according to a report by the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Wednesday. This development comes just days after the country’s army took delivery of 1,000 new drones.

The Zagros is a state-of-the-art military vessel equipped with advanced electronic sensors, enabling cyber-surveillance and intelligence gathering. “This ship will serve as the navy’s watchful eye across seas and oceans,” stated Navy Commander Shahram Irani.

Earlier this month, Iran launched two-month-long military exercises, featuring war games by the elite Revolutionary Guards to defend key nuclear sites, including Natanz, from simulated missile and drone attacks.

These military advancements come amid heightened tensions with Israel and the United States. In October, Iran’s government announced plans to increase its defense budget by 200% in response to growing security threats.
