Dr. Vernon Paltoo, President of National Energy, commented on the achievement: “We are delighted to have successfully restored the Sea Lots Channel and Turning Basin, leveraging our extensive experience in dredging operations from similar projects at Point Lisas, Galeota, and La Brea.”
“Our expertise enabled us to complete this project efficiently and within budget. This accomplishment underscores National Energy’s capability to execute critical national projects that contribute positively to the economy and the people of Trinidad and Tobago.”
From December 2023 to July 2024, the project was managed in alignment with international best practices and strict HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental) protocols, resulting in zero Lost Time Incidents (LTIs), as stated in their official announcement.
The dredging was conducted using the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Costa la Luz.
