Outrage in Crete: Tourists Forced to Wade Ashore After Ferry Platform Ban

Tourists have expressed outrage after being compelled to wade through neck-deep water to disembark from a ferry arriving at Balos, Crete from Kissamos.

Crete, known for its picturesque holiday spots, is grappling with severe overtourism issues during peak summer months. In an effort to control the influx, local authorities made the controversial decision to prohibit the use of floating platforms typically used for safe ferry disembarkation and boarding.

Approximately 40 passengers were left to navigate through the sea waters with their luggage after their ferry anchored just meters away from Balos beach and let them off.
