Turkish Navy vessel arrives in Mogadishu to enforce Somalia Defense Pac

The docking of the naval vessel comes after two months of anticipation following the landmark agreement, wherein Turkey pledged its support for maritime security in Somalia.

Present at the ceremonial reception held at the port were Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, alongside several government ministers, and Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Alper Aktas.

Expressing his appreciation, President Mohamud hailed Turkey as a "friendly and fraternal nation" steadfast in its backing of Somalia. He lauded Turkey's unwavering commitment to Somalia's safeguarding through the agreement, highlighting its potential to bolster the nation's naval capabilities.

Echoing the sentiment, Somali Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur hailed the defense accord as a testament to the enduring alliance between the two nations.
