ESL Shipping Sells Supramax Vessels for $37.1 Million in Strategic Shift Towards Green Shipping

This sale represents a strategic pivot for ESL Shipping, which is now concentrating on smaller Handysize and Coaster vessels. This adjustment is part of the company's broader objective of reaching carbon-neutral operations in the future.

“The sale will support our roadmap towards green shipping and our ambition to bring fossil-free Handysize vessels to the market,” stated Mikki Koskinen, Managing Director of ESL Shipping. “This transaction allows us to allocate more resources towards accelerating the green transition.”

Both the Arkadia and Kumpula were constructed in 2012 and are 1A ice-strengthened Supramax vessels with a deadweight tonnage of 56,000. Each vessel is 197 meters in length and has a maximum draft of 13.0 meters when fully loaded. They have operated under the Finnish flag throughout their tenure with ESL Shipping.
