DMW Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac assured that the necessary travel documents for the returning crew have already been issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs, and preparations are underway for a warm welcome.
The returning seafarers consist of ten unharmed crew members who experienced the missile attack while traversing the Gulf of Aden on March 6. Additionally, one crew member sustained minor injuries during the emergency evacuation but has been cleared by medical authorities as fit for travel.
As per DMW, two injured Filipino crewmen are currently receiving medical attention in a hospital in Djibouti City. Their conditions are reported to be stable, and they are under the careful monitoring of medical professionals. The statement emphasized that these crewmen will be repatriated to the Philippines as soon as they are certified medically fit for travel.
The DMW also addressed the lingering question surrounding the remains of the two Filipino crewmen from the ill-fated True Confidence vessel, providing assurance that further details would be communicated as the situation develops.
