Five Indian sailors released from MSC Aries in Iran

This development comes after the ship, flying the Portuguese flag, was seized by Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) in the Strait of Hormuz last month. The IRGC conducted a special heliborne operation on April 13, citing "violations of maritime laws."

The Indian Embassy expressed appreciation for the close coordination between Iranian authorities, the Embassy, and the Indian Consulate in Bandar Abbas. Earlier in April, an Indian woman cadet from the vessel was released and returned to India on April 18. Consular access was granted to the remaining 16 Indian sailors, confirmed to be in good health, and India had been in communication with Iran for their release.

MSC, the shipping company, stated on April 15 that 25 crew members were on board the vessel and emphasized their cooperation with relevant authorities to ensure the well-being and safe return of the ship and its crew.
