The Mumbai-listed diversified owner announced that the unnamed 49,990 dwt ship is expected to be delivered by the end of September, with the purchase price remaining undisclosed.
Great Eastern has been actively modernizing its tanker fleet this year through several transactions, selling older vessels and replacing them with newer models.
Recently, the company sold its 2004-built 48,700 dwt MR tanker, Jag Pranam, without revealing the financial details of the deal.
Upon completion of all transactions, Great Eastern Shipping will own a total of 43 vessels. The fleet will consist of a mix of nearly fully-utilized 29 crude and product carriers, four LPG carriers, and 14 bulkers.
