Houthis damage subsea cables connecting Europe to Asia

After disrupting international sea traffic, Houthi militants now targeted global communication systems. According to a recent report, the Yemeni group knocks out key underwater cables linking Europe to Asia.

The report said that four underwater communications cables- belonging to AAE-1, SEACOM, EIG, and TGN Systems- between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti out of commission

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that its forces took defensive action by destroying three unmanned boats, two missiles, and a one-way attack drone operated by the Houthis.

The incident occurred over the Red Sea, where the unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCMs) were ready for launch.

CENTCOM stated that these targets posed an immediate threat to both merchant ships and U.S. Navy vessels in the region. The action was taken to ensure the safety of the maritime environment.
