Ship traffic in Turkey's Bosphorus Strait was suspended

Ship traffic in Turkey's Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul was suspended on Sunday morning after one ship suffered an anchor failure, the Tribeca shipping agency said.

According to a report shared by the agency, the Liberia-flagged tanker Peria's anchor self-released due to bad weather around the third bridge area during its passage through the strait and two tugs were dispatched to assist it.

"Due to the anchoring of the tanker PERIA at Keçilik Bay in the Bosphorus while sailing from Russia to Izmir; the vessel traffic in the Bosphorus has been suspended temporarily and in both directions. The ship is being intervened by our organization's tugboats and lifeboats." said in the statement of The Directorate General of Coastal Safety upon the incident.
