The vessel, named Iana, is a 5,050 DWT cargo ship designed by Thecla Bodewes, featuring advanced diesel-electric propulsion to meet the stringent IMO EEDI Phase III requirements.
The Iana is equipped with a cutting-edge propulsion system consisting of three 532 kW generators and two 600 kW electric motors, ensuring both high efficiency and low emissions. The vessel also boasts a sleek hull design, optimized for fuel efficiency, and offers a generous cargo hold with a total volume of 5,900 cubic meters, making it suitable for a wide range of cargo types across domestic and global shipping routes.
While the ship will initially operate with its diesel-electric system, it has been designed with future flexibility in mind, allowing for retrofitting to run on alternative, low-emission fuels such as methanol and hydrogen.
Upon completion, the Iana will have a length of 87.3 meters, a beam of 13.7 meters, a draught of 6.3 meters, and a gross tonnage of 2,999 GT. The vessel's design emphasizes sustainability, operational efficiency, and versatility, making it a key asset for Transtal Shipping’s fleet.
