The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an incident off the coast of Al-Hudaydah, Yemen, on Monday night. According to the UKMTO, two explosions occurred near a vessel approximately 63 nautical miles southwest of Al-Hudaydah port in the Red Sea.
The maritime agency confirmed that the vessel and its crew were unharmed and continued their voyage. No further details were provided, but UKMTO advised vessels in the area to exercise caution and report any unusual activity.
There has been no comment from the Yemeni Houthi group regarding the incident.
The Red Sea is a key route for global oil and fuel shipments. In recent months, Houthi forces have reportedly targeted cargo ships linked to Israel in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, in response to ongoing conflict in Gaza.
To address these threats, the United States launched Operation Prosperity Guardian, a multinational mission aimed at countering Houthi attacks.
