A fire in the engine room of the FG SEVIL bulk carrier en route from Yalova to Bulgaria resulted in the loss of two crew members.

A fire broke out around noon in the engine room of the Panama-flagged FG SEVIL, a 104-meter bulk carrier en route from Yalova to Bulgaria. The cause of the fire remains unknown. According to local press, Turkish Directorate General of Coastal Safety teams were dispatched to control the blaze near Sedef Island in the Sea of Marmara.

The Coastal Safety Authority shared on social media that rescue vessels KEGM-4, KURTARMA-7, and the ŞARK tugboat were quickly deployed to the scene. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure later confirmed that the fire was fully extinguished. However, two workers trapped in the engine room during the fire lost their lives.
