INTERCARGO Urges Members to Join Dry Bulk Management Standard Portal

INTERCARGO is urging its members, including shipowners, managers, and operators, to sign up for the new Dry Bulk Management Standard (DryBMS) portal.

This platform enhances the dry bulk shipping sector's safety, operational efficiency, and sustainability.

Subscribers will become part of the Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence (DBCE), allowing them to participate in the development of the DryBMS standard actively. The DBCE's governance structure gives equal representation to shipowners, operators, and charterers, enabling direct input into shaping the standard.

As a founding member of the DBCE, along with BIMCO, ICS, and Rightship, INTERCARGO emphasizes that member participation is crucial for the successful adoption of DryBMS. The collaboration aims to improve safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability in dry bulk shipping, and wider industry involvement is seen as essential.

To encourage participation, INTERCARGO is offering an incentive: members who sign up for the DBCE in 2024 will have the £1,000 sign-up fee credited towards their 2025 INTERCARGO membership.

The DryBMS portal, launched on August 22, 2024, represents a significant step forward for the sector. With 20 companies already starting the subscription process, INTERCARGO is calling for more members to join and support the initiative.
