Maersk Brownsville Crew Receives International Maritime Organization's Special Recognition

Captain Eelco Tijssen and the crew onboard the Maersk Brownsville have been honored with the International Maritime Organization's Special Recognition for Merchant Vessels and Their Crew Involved in the Rescue of Mixed Migrants at Sea.

The award was presented by Mr. Andreas Nordseth, Director General of the Danish Maritime Authority, during a ceremony at Maersk's headquarters in Copenhagen this week.

On January 19, 2024, while en route from Port Said to London, the Maersk Brownsville responded to a distress call and successfully rescued 41 people in peril at sea. The swift and decisive actions of Captain Tijssen and his crew are hailed as a shining example of extraordinary seamanship.

The recognition highlights the crew's embodiment of Maersk's core values and their commitment to maritime safety and humanitarian efforts.
