Rescue Operation Successfully Completed for Distressed Ship

A recent official social media post from the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs stated: "At 00:47 today, a distress signal from the Cospas-Sarsat Satellite-Aided Search and Rescue System was received from the Iranian Search and Rescue area.

Investigations revealed that the signal originated from the Panamanian-flagged vessel KNIDOS.

Following discussions with the company representative, it was confirmed that the St. Vincent and the Grenadines-flagged ship NADEEN had collided with the KNIDOS on its starboard quarter, causing the engine room to flood and the vessel to list.

The crew of the KNIDOS, which includes 2 Turkish and 3 Azerbaijani nationals among a total of 13 people, successfully abandoned the ship using a lifeboat and were rescued from the water by the other vessel.

Coordination between MSRCC Ankara and MSRCC Bandar Abbas led to the deployment of search and rescue assets to the area. All crew members' health conditions have been confirmed as good, and no casualties have been reported."
