Shipping Executive to Pay £12.5 Million in Divorce Settlement

Andrew Williams, a 57-year-old shipping port executive from Neath, South Wales, has been ordered by the High Court to pay £12.5 million (€15 million) to his ex-wife, Abigail Williams, 59, following a contentious divorce case.

The court ruled that Mr. Williams had deliberately misled the court about his true wealth throughout the proceedings.

Mr. Williams, who operates a successful shipping business, was found to have hidden significant assets from his ex-wife. Despite claiming financial difficulties, evidence revealed that he transferred £6 million to a Monaco account and purchased a luxury Rolls-Royce Cullinan, valued at £750,000, shortly before the divorce.

He was also found to have falsely presented himself as "Sir Andrew" and claimed connections to Monaco royalty.

Mr. Justice Moor, who presided over the case, criticized Mr. Williams' conduct, describing his testimony as dishonest and his actions as an attempt to deceive the court. The judge concluded that Mr. Williams’ total assets amounted to approximately £50 million, half of which were considered matrimonial property.

The couple, who share two children and three grandchildren, had lived a lavish lifestyle, owning properties in Cardiff and Marbella and frequently traveling to Monaco. Mrs. Williams testified that she had been financially dependent on her husband and was denied access to their shared wealth during the marriage.

The court's ruling ensures that Mrs. Williams will receive £12.5 million, which the judge stated would adequately meet her financial needs.
