Singapore-based Yinson GreenTech (YGT) has launched the region's first fully electric hydrofoil vessel, the Hydroglyder, developed in partnership with Lift Ocean and Zeabuz. The vessel, designed for crew transfer and passenger transport, aims to reduce reliance on fossil-fuel-powered boats.

With a top speed of 25 knots and a capacity for 12 passengers, the Hydroglyder uses a hydrofoil system to lift its hull above the water, minimizing drag and improving energy efficiency. This design reduces energy consumption by up to 80%, resulting in operational cost savings of up to 90%.

The vessel aligns with Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority’s 2030 goals for fully electric harbor craft. YGT’s CEO, Eirik Barclay, emphasized the role of electrification and digitalization in the future of maritime transport, while Jan-Viggo Johansen, Managing Director of marinEV, highlighted the vessel’s environmentally friendly, zero-emission technology.

The Hydroglyder is part of YGT’s broader portfolio, which also includes Singapore's first fully electric cargo ship, the Hydromover. This lightweight vessel has swappable batteries and delivers up to 50% in operational cost savings.
