Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), based in Singapore, has placed orders for six new LNG-powered pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) to expand its fleet and support sustainability. The company has contracted two leading Chinese shipbuilders, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) Jinling, for the construction.
Four of the PCTCs, each priced at $80 million, will be built by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding. These vessels, with a capacity of 5,500 CEU, will be delivered by 2027 and powered by dual-fuel LNG engines. EPS has also ordered two more LNG dual-fuel PCTCs from CMHI Jinling, due in 2028.
These new orders align with EPS’s goal to reduce its carbon footprint and meet the shipping industry's increasing demand for eco-friendly solutions. The new ships complement EPS’s recent order of six ultra-large ethane carriers, which also feature energy-saving technologies for a net-zero future.
